7 Reasons Why "Veggietales in the House" Sucks

Good grief! I don't see my childhood show for a few months and suddenly I'm blasted in the face with THIS? First Teen Titans, then Powerpuff Girls, now Veggietales? And don't think I'm not the only person who thinks so. Look on YouTube and count how many comments say "childhood destroyed". Don't get me wrong, I actually TRIED to give this a shot. I watched the clips on YT, on account of I don't own a Netflix and don't really need it (I asked a friend if I could watch off of his). I thought this new series would be "okay" as the former creators said it would be. But, like archery, I just miss so much.

Here's what fans hate about the new VT:

1. The Setting

In the original Veggietales, Bob and Larry are always introduced on the kitchen counter. Afterwards, the episode begins in some exotic place from the Bible where the audience watches them have an awesome adventure. In the new series, they make it obvious that they're vegetables roaming around an empty human house, where somehow a little town resides from the kitchen across toward the loving room. Where are the owners of the house, I wonder, and is this anything like Night of the Museum?

Apparently, most of the episodes revolve around this minuscule town.

And the basic setting is in Pa Grape's grocery store. That's right, all their "fun-filled adventures" take place between the produce and meat department. Oh, yeah, that's just as fun as taking down as taking down a popcorn meteor from space...

2. Morals

And so what we have learned applies to our lives today...

Oh, yeah, I learn a lot from stinky breath and and the importance of brushing my teeth. Oh, and not to mention how to fix a feud with your friends in the WORST way possible.

In the episode "Bob's Bad Breath", Larry doesn't see the importance of good hygiene (seriously, Larry? You used to say you loved your lips!) and spends his money not on a toothbrush but on sardines. He eats so much of the gunk cow manure smells like daisies compared to his breath. And Bob suffers from it, especially on his first day at work in Pa Grape's store. Okay, so Pa calls Larry out on his carelessness, yet he also chides Bob for having a bad attitude. Is that guy serious? Only reason Bob was moody was because Larry kept him up all night with his stinky breath, and yet he's getting blamed as well?

And I thought My Little Pony was killing lessons...

True, we receive Bible verses every now and then, but where are the Bible STORIES? This show hardly mentions God, it might as well go Spongebob on us!

Speaking of which, let's go to #3...

3. Personalities of the Veggies

Like Spongebob Squarepants, it's like everyone either got mean-spirited or dumbed down. We all remember Larry the Cucumber as the silly yet charming cuke that always made us laugh. Now he's become the Patrick Star of the series. I mean, like seriously, he can't even think for himself without Bob telling him he needs to brush his teeth. Remember the Larry that took on the big jobs? Like taking down rumor weeds, fibs from outer space, and even finding Samson's hairbrush? Not even the new Larryboy has the same spark.

And Bob? He got sillier and more ridiculous! He gets all dramatic when his checker game gets interrupted, and believes having a mustache will make him one cool tomato (I think Dreamworks is trying too hard with the hipster fad).

Petunia used to be so interesting, being a balance between silly and witty. Yet now she's some dull mother figure who hardly succeeds all the action from her previous form.

I can't take any of these characters seriously. Even the characters that are suppose to be serious.

4. New voices

Uh! It's like English dub for most animes! While Phil Vischer and Mike Nawrocki still voice the characters we all know and love, some veggies have been given what might as well be toilet brushes through the ears.

Junior and Laura's voices have always sounded so sweet and child-like...and now they're replaced by what some could call "stoned", especially Junior's. And don't wear earphones when you listen to Laura sing! She is not the princess/popstar we once knew!

Yes, I know that's Dot Warner...bad choice for a little carrot girl. Same applies for turning Petunia into Daisy Duck.

Now a lot of VT fans are enraged by what happened to Madame Blueberry. In the old series, she was French. Now she sounds like what a competitive British mom! And wasn't she BLONDE in the previous show?

5. Larryboy

A lot of fans are not happy with the new Larryboy. There's no Alfred, for starters. Bob's the one guiding this cucumber now because the new Archibald is the mayor (wasn't it Madame Blueberry before?). While the lightning decals look spiffy, the suit, and the Larrymobile, are just distasteful. It's like Ben Affleck becoming the new Batman!

6. No more Mr. Nezzer

One of the saddest changes about the new Veggietales besides their designs is that Mr. Nezzer got replaced by this butt. Okay, Rob Paulsen rocked it in "Beauty and the Beet", but he draws the line when he suddenly becomes the Squidward of the new Veggietales. Although this one's a lot meaner and more cranky...

7. Designs

Every fan, and I mean, every fan, is pissed that our beloved Veggies of many years have suddenly turned into this! Those eyes are practically staring into your soul! No one in this series is cute! Even Larry, the cucumber I've been crushing on since I was 8, looks like what comes out of your butt if you each too much green stuff!

Archie isn't even hot anymore! Now he is U-GLY!

According to the creators, they wanted to give them more of a cartoony feel. What cartoon is that? Ren and Stimpy?

They just look so weird. Their eyes are like two balloons squeezing together until they pop...

This guy is especially hideous, I'm not even going to sugarcoat it. Just look at that mouth!

Thanks, Dreamworks! Thanks for ruining a childhood show that the children of today will never learn from! Well, if they're going to try and learn anything from it, might as well be to take better care of your teeth...
